=== Vacation in Lübeck === The Hanseatic city of Lübeck is among the best-loved vacation destinations in North Germany. Lübeck was founded in 1143 and flourished as a medieval Hanseatic city. Visitors in Lübeck will not be able to overlook the Holstentor (Holsten Gate). Lübeck Cathedral was rebuilt after destruction during the war. A former monastic building houses the Museum for Art and Cultural History.
