The East Frisian Islands consist of the islands of Juist, Wangerooge, Norderney, Langeoog, Baltrum, Spiekeroog and Borkum. There are also other islands, but they are uninhabited. One of the greatest highlights that the East Frisian Islands offer is the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea. There are numerous professional guides who can bring island visitors closer to the mudflats. Some islands are so close together, that one can hike on mudflats through the sea to the next island.
The East Frisian Islands are, however, also very suitable for a beach vacation, for here there are numerous popular accredited North Sea therapeutic baths. The spacious white sandy beaches invite guests to relaxing beach days, and a refreshing swim in the North Sea is of course always a welcome idea. Whoever wants to spend a vacation in absolutely pure air should choose the islands of Juist, Langeoog, Spiekeroog or Wangerooge. These are with a few exceptions automobile-free, so that the already healthful North Sea air is particularly clean and refreshing.
Many water sport fans vacation on the East Frisian Islands, because here there are numerous surfing beaches and they can pursue their sport undisturbed. There are numerous surfing spots with excellent conditions. But as well kite-surfers and sailors can get their money’s worth here. Bicyclists will likewise enjoy great bicycle tours through the untouched natural countryside.
