We are quite proud of all the amenities in and around our cottage. But the real enjoyment is, of course, outside in the lovely surroundings. Will you turn left onto the heath, straight into the woods or right into the village?

Natural resting place in the primeval province of Drenthe
The small-scale recreation park (municipality of Midden-Drenthe) is located on a vast natural plateau and close to farmland. Without asphalt or lampposts, where the stars can still be counted at night and a benevolent peace reigns during the day as well.

With us, luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. Thanks to optimal insulation, solar panels, material recycling and innovative water reuse, you enjoy the best of both worlds. Including Hydraloop for water reuse and olivine grains in the garden for decomposing CO2. And our cottage offers not only a charging point for yourself, but also for your electric car.

Wellness facilities
A double whirlpool, rain shower, private Finnish sauna, outdoor shower and more to let you unwind. Relax inside on the box springs or outside on the sun loungers.

For tall people
You certainly won't bump your head in the more than 4-metre-high living room, and we have extra-long beds. The bath fits you easily and the desk is height-adjustable.

4 beds available
The ecolodge is fully equipped for four people. With two lovely double beds. The 2.20-metre box spring can also be used as separate single beds and the other bed is 'just' 1.60 x 2 metres. The toilet is separate from the bathroom. And both are not adjacent to a bedroom.

Modern kitchen
Extensive breakfast, lunch or dinner? With an induction hob, dishwasher, combination microwave oven and spacious fridge, you can cook deliciously and easily in the ecolodge.

Sound & vision
Internet access (Wifi), a flat screen and surround sound are at your disposal. Just like the DVD player and HDMI connection. You can even connect your phone to the sound system in the bath (if you feel the need).

Energy label A
We like to show how energy-efficient the ecolodge is with our approved energy label: well insulated, solar panels, water recycling and more to save the environment.

We offer you plenty of privacy and an exclusive stay. This also includes having the keys ready for you. You will receive instructions for this after booking.

In the middle of the woods and close to the heathland between Westerbork and Orvelte
Walk along the Orvelterzand or the Melkwegpad past Europe's largest radio telescope and Drenthe's largest sandpit. Walk or cycle to the museum village of Orvelte or past the dolmens nearby. Tip: our favourite nature reserves in the area are the Orvelterzand (which we border), the Mantingerzand and the Balloërveld. And of course the National Parks Drents-Friese Wold and Dwingelderveld with various cycling and riding routes, experience trails and tough ATB routes. The village has a bakery, a nature shop with organic and ecological products, two supermarkets, a bookshop, nice home furnishing shops and cosy restaurants. The Drents Museum in Assen is highly recommended.

Hiking routes
Several route books are waiting for you in the ecolodge and within 2 steps you are in the forest or on the moor. For a breath of fresh air or a kilometre-long hike, whatever you want.

For bed linen, you pay an amount that is already included in the rent of the accommodation, which you buy from us as standard. Bed linen cannot be cancelled. The bed linen package consists of a cover for the duvets, pillows and mattress. In Ecolodge De Bosuil the beds are already made. Towels are not included in your booking, but you can add them to your booking under extras. Per towel package ordered you will receive a bath towel, a shower towel and a flannel. So if you add 1 package, you will receive 2 towels and a flannel. If you order 2 packages, we will provide 4 towels and 2 flannels.

Attention to each other, time for good talks, beautiful moments, do nice things and return home with a heart full of love.

5 tips from Annemarie and Roeland (happily married since 2008):
- Book a day of wellness, for example in Westerbork at Vitalia Beauty Wellness & Floating. Totally relax together. And if you can't get enough of that, just dive into the sauna or bubble bath of our holiday home.
- Go spotting dolmens by scooter. Or by bike. Or on foot. As long as you do it together. There are 52 of them waiting for you in Drenthe, say one for every week full of love for each other.
- Drink to love together, but just a little differently? Then go wine tasting at the Drents Kwartiertje in Hooghalen or visit beer brewery Maallust in Veenhuizen.
- Go count sheep together before bedtime. Take a walk through National Park Dwingelderveld, for instance. You can park your car at Lheederzand car park where various cycling and walking routes start. Vast heathlands? Check! Forests, junipers, burial mounds, fens? Check! And of course the Drenthe Heath Sheep. Check! We are curious to see how many you will encounter.
- Take a walk after dark on the heath near us along the Oostermaat and sit or lie down at the Iron Age farm. Enjoy the starry sky together on a clear night and make a wish if you see a shooting star.

The landscape of Midden-Drenthe has varied natural areas with woods, heathland, sand and peat. The walking network and the cycle junction system guide you easily past all the places of interest. The area is large and diverse and offers true nature lovers plenty of variety. A new surprise awaits around every corner. With your feet in the sand, you walk through nature and farmland.

Waking up in a luxury holiday home in the middle of a forest and close to the moor. Walking along the Milky Way path past Europe's largest radio telescopes and Drenthe's largest sandpit. Cycling to the monument village of Orvelte or past the dolmens in the area. Relax in your own outdoor sauna and double whirlpool bath. Or enjoy reading a book on the veranda.
