The location of the house is a dream for nature lovers. Milanees and other birds of prey appreciate the absolute peace of the forest, they circle and whistle in the air. There is no street impact and therefore no disturbing traffic noise, the trail is only passable to my house, preferably with 4x4. If you want to drive to the house, you can park beyond the house as well, free of cost.
If you want to meditate, write a book, go skiing or just in the garden, relax or unwind, there will be nothing missing here.
The Homberger Elephant House is surrounded by countless hiking and cycling trails, which are very well developed, and at different altitudes provide an overview of the varied landscape, which changes rapidly with the ascent and descent. For the sporty ones there are two racing bikes and two mountain bikes in the house, as well as two pairs of snowshoes, as well as skiers for downhill and cross country skiing can be additionally rented. With cross-country skis you come to the house. Please check the opening of the house in winters.
The small reading library on the top floor with a philosophical bookshelf replaces any bad weather days, no matter how good a TV program would be, and the mountain view over the nature reserve and the "gentle hills" to Säntis from the guest rooms is a green (or in winter white) eye candy. For your comfort, sun loungers and shaded and sunny seating areas are available in the garden.
And: The Elephant House sets standards. I cook vegan or vegetarian on request. So that you do not have to leave this paradise without culinary experience. I cook for you and prepare a fantastic breakfast with all that goes with it: squeezed juices, homemade jams and home-baked bread with and without gluten, canned or seasonable fresh fruit, berries, cherries or plums, all from own, biological cultivation. Ask for the menu card.
The dinner is particularly delicious, vegetables and crisp salads from the garden depending on the season, with chia, couscous, quinoa, potatoes or rice or pasta. The sweet desert is again a creation from the berry garden.
Despite the remote area you will find a well connected traffic system in this area.

The interior of the rooms is "not modern and cool", but very individual and lovingly furnished, as the whole house is also a very special place. It got soul. The guest rooms are bright and sunny.

Vegetable garden, fruit trees and two own water sources are surrounded by breeding places for birds. Tired urban ears will find the perfect relaxation. The house is maintained ecological and vegan, and we are happy to offer vegetarian kitchen upon your request.
You will find sunny and shady seating areas in the garden, and comfortable deck chairs for your convenience. There is free parking directly at the house (4x4 recommended), or 160 m up the hill. We will then come and pick you up.
The Elephant House is a very special place, and a spiritual place to gather and recharge your batteries.
The circular ecosystem between the house and the environment/garden guarantees that both are kept 100% pure and clean. This means that the spring water that comes from the forest into the house is returned to nature or the garden as pure water (without a cleaning system!); as it comes in, it runs out again. Amphibians such as mountain newts, frogs and toads, and many small organisms and insects, which can also be found in the garden pond, live in this sewage basin of the house. The elephant house is not only vegan, but also detergent-soap and shampoo- FREE! A unique project to love the environment and animals, no-poo, and no violence to animals.
However, for those who can do without, the Elephant House offers special environment friendly shampoo & soap customised for the requirements of the garden.
The Elephanthouse cooks delicious and rich food for you and also serves breakfast. Both is payable before your departure to the house.
For your own cooking, the use of the kitchen is CHF 15.-/day. Kitchenette is CHF 5.-/day.
The Elephanthouse also provides numerous tastes of homemade jams, preserves and breads. Please ask for your favourites.
From the Elephanthouse wonderful walks or bike tours can be undertaken.

Traffic connections:
The ELephanthouse is located in Toggenburg, Kanton St. Gallen, Switzerland.
You will reach the Zuric airport within 40-50 min, and in about 40 min you will reach St. Gallen.
To the Bodensee it is about 40 min as well.
You can reach the Alpstein area with the Säntis in about 40 minutes as well as the Walensee/lake in Kanton Glarus.
The central location is a plus for the ones who love the diversity of the country in a small place. Enjoy!
Winter`s Paradise
If you arrive in the winter months, take warm clothes with you. We provide cross-country skis, downhill skis and two pairs of snowshoes for your sporting activity for a small surcharge. However, I would like to point out that an additional oven on the upper floor can serve as heating, the fireplace with the chimney runs through the living area so that it also gives off heat. The apartment is overlooking the rolling hills, flooded with sunlight, and keeps a pleasant temperature. Nevertheless, some warm sweaters are recommendable. The house provides blankets for your convenience.
On the day of arrival, the accommodation is available from 14:00.
On the day of departure you must leave the property by 10:00 at the latest.
Rental Prices
All rates apply for max. 1 guests. An added €74,50 per night will be charged for each additional guest.
For short stays of up to 2 nights, a surcharge of 75.50 € per night will be applied.
